What Will I Need

Are you sitting there thinking that this might be something you are interested in trying. What's awesome about that is that most diamond paintings come with everything you need to get started. 1. Picture on a canvas, ready to be painted with your beads

2. The different beads needed for your selected painting

3. Pen to lay down the beads

4. Tray to hold the beads

5. Wax to allow the beads to stick to the pen

Here is are some helpful additional items I found I loved when doing my paintings. Additional bead storage

Typically the beds come in bags. Those bags are labeled with color number or symbol associated with the inventory sheet. What happens once you open them? You'll likely want something secure to store them in so they don't spill. I use old pill bottles as it's what I had around the house or available to me. I then labeled the caps with the associated bag information for easy reference. I've then purchased mini glass bottles. These are used for my leftover beads to use should I be missing a color in future paintings. This will only work if they are using the DMC color numbers for your painting though. I've seen cases specifically designed to hold them thoug as well. I suggest something that is easy to find what you are looking for but made for your crafting space.

Light Pad

This one might be more of a like, but after having a painting that had similar designs for two different bead colors, I purchased a light pad. When put under you canvas, it makes it easier to see. Plus the additional hard surface of the light seems to help my beads stick. I won't paint without it now.

Bigger Pens

This is one that I personally don't enjoy, but many others have. They make pens that allow for selection of more than one bead at a time. If you have a painting that has a large section of the same color, you might find these useful to place multiple beads at one time. I've only ever tried this with the round beads and had trouble lining them up to match the circle on the canvas. Since paintings can also come in square diamond beads this might be more useful for that pictures.

Washi Tape

I do my painting by rolling back the plastic in rows, about an inch at a time. I found that I didn't like that my canvas was collecting the dust and lint when I was working on it, so i added Washi Tape to the sides of the canvas to remove that sticky edge while working.

I've only used the white tape that has matched the canvas so i didn't need to remove when done. If you want to remove, I would suggest testing a small area first if this idea appeals to you.

Those are my must haves, other than a work space large enough for the paintings selected. Do you have any must haves when working with diamond paintings
